The Gem of Downtown Charleston

We welcome you to learn more about the gem of downtown Charleston, West Virginia: One Bridge Place. Located in downtown Charleston’s business district at the corner of Virginia and Hale Streets and the Southside, One Bridge Place affords a full view of the Kanawha River and is within walking distance of the other major Charleston office buildings, including Kanawha County Courthouse, the Justice Building, and other Charleston City offices.

A Modern Office Building with the Historic Feeling of Yesteryear

One Bridge Place is the most recent embodiment of the building that was constructed during the Spanish-American War in 1898 by the Lewis & Hubbard Company. Lewis & Hubbard was, at the time, the largest wholesale grocery sales and distribution company in the region, serving West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Over 100 years later, the historic, award-winning structure continues to serve the city of Charleston well as a completely modern office building in every way, but with the historic feel of yesteryear. The turn of the century exterior architecture is also present throughout the building’s main interior features. Its large, arched windows, exposed brick walls, and oak columns and beams produce an atmosphere akin to a warehouse/loft apartment in Soho.

An Office Building with Award-Winning Architecture

One Bridge Place is an award-winning office building that has been recognized for both its beauty and architectural integrity. We received an Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects – WV for “Excellence in Architecture,” as well as the Charleston Renaissance Award for Excellence. The expansive mural painted on the eastern side of One Bridge Place was featured in Southern Living Magazine.
